Can you lead a multi-year estates strategy that aligns with our 2025-2030 goals, driving innovation?

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the Head of Estates will lead and drive the transformation our estates. This strategic position requires a visionary professional who can align our estate management with the broader organisational goals and integrate with our people strategy, ensuring the estate is a dynamic enabler of change, innovation, and sustainability. You will develop and deliver a forward-looking estates strategy that supports our operational, financial, and environmental objectives while enhancing user experience.

About the role

You will lead on establishing our multi-year estates strategy, playing a key role in aligning the Estates, Facilities, Health & Safety and Sustainability agenda with the Charity's 2025-2030 strategic goals.  

When developing the estates strategy, you will focus on creating a long-term plan that aligns with the organisation's overall vision, promoting optimisation and sustainability. This requires close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, regulators and key partners, to ensure estate planning supports the broader strategy and goals.

At the same time, transformational leadership is essential in driving cultural and operational change within the estates team. This involves fostering innovation, improving efficiency, and promoting best practices across all areas of property and facilities management. To futureproof the estate, it is crucial to identify and deliver opportunities for modernisation, ensuring that facilities are adaptable, sustainable, and capable of meeting future organisational and technological needs.

Financial management is another key aspect, requiring careful management of the estate’s budget to provide cost-effective solutions.

Sustainability is central to the strategy, with a particular focus on carbon management. Leading initiatives that drive the organization's sustainability agenda ensures that the estate meets its ambitious carbon reduction and environmental targets. Equally important is risk and compliance leadership, where oversight ensures that the estate adheres to all statutory regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements, while also maintaining business continuity.

About you

We are looking for a forward-thinking leader who is capable of turning vision into reality. You will bring significant experience in managing large, complex estates and a track record of delivering transformative projects. You must have the ability to balance strategic insight with operational excellence, with a passion for sustainability and innovation.

  • Extensive experience in a senior estates management role, with strategic oversight of complex property portfolios.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver long-term strategic estate plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Deep knowledge of property management, asset optimization, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of driving estate modernisation initiatives.
  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualification in estates management, property, or a related discipline (e.g., RICS or equivalent)
