This opportunity at StepChange Debt Charity would suit an experienced Lead Data Developer ready for their next challenge. The role supports the charity’s data and integration capability through the design, build and maintenance of the charity’s data warehousing solution, together with managing the Data Development team. This is a critical role which sits within our Technology Services team based in Leeds City Centre   

What you will be doing

You will play a key role implementing the data warehouse strategy by undertaking the design, development and maintenance of our data warehouses, as well as providing leadership to a small team delivering the charity's objectives.

Key accountabilities

  • Inspire your team to deliver
  • Design, develop and maintain the charity’s data warehouses, and data feeds, to ensure current and historical data is available
  • Implement and promote adherence to data warehouse strategy, standards required and processes
  • Create new and maintain existing ETL processes using the Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSRS) and Microsoft Azure Data Factory
  • Proactively manage the data warehouse to improve reliability, availability, recoverability, and performance
  • Liaise with departments to ensure changes to processes and source systems are reflected in the data warehouse

Experience and knowledge

You’ll have demonstrable technical skills and strong experience in the following:

  • Excellent SQL Server skills
  • Experience in designing & developing data solutions using the Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSRS)
  • Experience of dimensional modelling and ETL best practice
  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse design techniques
  • Experience of designing & developing data solutions using the Microsoft Azure stack (Azure Functions, Data Factory)
  • Experience of agile delivery practices
  • Previous experience of large-scale development projects with a data emphasis
  • Line management experience, including coaching and mentoring
  • Knowledge of Dell Boomi, Service Oriented Architecture, REST Services and PEGA (desirable)

  • Excellent organisational skills together with strong communication/influencing abilities.
  • Ability to convey complex technical knowledge in a simple way that meets the needs of stakeholders/colleagues
  • Proven track record in analytical and problem solving and able to analyse data and draw conclusions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels
  • Confidence to assume responsibility for developments and drive them forward to success
  • Proven leadership and coaching experience
